The SEED of SHOCK {Story © Grimes - Art © Loc 96}
The rims of Raussen’s eye sockets contracted into a frowning frame for his dim pink eyes. Angrily he made what he knew would be his last effort.
“You’re being a fool.”
“But I ...”
“Skael, you’re deceiving yourself. you’re so concerned about experiencing some ... some other reality, you no longer care fore the life that surrounds you everyday.”
“I ...”
Raussen rose displaying the tiredness of his years. He looked closely at his friend. The suns at his back rested their rays against Skael’s still youthful face. Raussen spoke.
“I’m tired of this. You’ve been the cause of more furrows in my brow that anyone else in my life.”
The transparent bar shifted within Shael’s restless fingers. As he looked down at it, it seemed to have lost some of its radiance. He lifted his gaze.
“I would share it with you.”
“No.”
“We’ve said all we can. I must go now.”
Raussen lift slowly, giving Skael a chance to speak. But no words came to him.
Streams of seat flowed along his life line. The edge of his fist glowed, a dull orange. The key exhilarated, his lungs clutched for breath. He listened. And got an earful of pain.
